According to the materials used, the jars of saxophones and allow you to change the sound of your instrument
Examine the shape of the jar, especially on a tenor or a baritone. In fact, it often happens that there is, unwittingly, a certain amount of pressure on the jar where it fits against the spout. Under this pressure, it will curve slightly, which may, among other things, to affect the emission of one or several notes.
Always check the condition of the cork on which to mount the spout. Is it worn out or too compressed, and it fits there well to your beak? Look at also if the tenon of the jar fits well on the body and if there is no game to join. If this assembly is not sealed, air leaks will affect the accuracy and response of the instrument. Note that if the jar is wearing a different finish to that of the body, it does not necessarily mean that it does not belong to the instrument.
